The Oliver’s Battery Plan Group is an independent community-led body.  The Group is separate from the Parish Council, although it is led by a parish councillor, and includes a large cross section of local residents and is supported by the Winchester City Council Community Planning Manager.  The Group, through a comprehensive and systematic consultation on a wide range of themes, are identifying the likes, dislikes and needs of our community.  A report will reflect the vision of local residents and include a comprehensive and detailed action plan for community development over the following 5 – 10 years. The Group, who are passionate about Oliver’s Battery, will report their findings to the Parish Council so that we can help facilitate the improvements and conservation you would like to see.  The Group has received funding from Winchester City Council and the Parish Council.

Oliver’s Battery Plan – House Parties!

Social events are a really beneficial way of getting people interested, involved and talking about the Oliver’s Battery Plan.  So we’ve also come up with the idea of House Parties. We’d like to invite you to meet with your friends and neighbours to discuss the issues that are relevant to you, and should be considered in the Plan. We have prepared an information pack that you can download here. Special thanks to Brian Collin for preparing the materials.

Oliver’s Battery Plan – Launch Event

We had a superb turnout (100+) of people young and old at the Oliver’s Battery Plan Launch meeting – thanks for making it such a success. More to appear in the magazine later this month, but in the meantime, here are some highlights of the night. We said that Oliver’s Battery Needs You. And you came out in force. That’s what makes the community the strong body it is. And it’s only going to get better from hereon in. Exciting times!

You can see the superb input from the children of Oliver’s Battery Primary School  here (thanks to Dr Gardner for making this happen).

One of the jobs of any parish council is to represent the interests of the whole community. Understanding the needs of different groups in the community is an importawp594a06fb_05_06nt part of our role as councillors. We have a responsibility to be well informed, especially about diverse local views. One of the ways in which this can be achieved is through the creation of a Parish Plan. We are aiming to undertake this process in 2015, and welcome your feedback on any aspect of this:
