Hampshire County Council provide a Lengthsman to groups of Parishes with each Parish having the Lengthsman on site one day every quarter. They undertake various duties such as litter picking, removing moss from pavements, strimming and cutting back footpaths, work on repairs at the Recreation Ground, sign cleaning etc. Here is a link to the HCC website with some of the background. The Council sets a list of tasks for each visit and would welcome suggestions from Residents of the Parish. Please contact the Clerk if you can think of anything for his next visit.
Hampshire County Council new concessionary bus passes will be issued prior to expiry in March 2017. It is not necessary to enquire about a new bus pass unless your circumstances, address or appearance have changed. Thanks to everyone who voted at local Tesco stores for the Vikings and the Saxon Noble King Play Equipment project at the Recreation Ground.
Groundwork UK on behalf of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, offered the Parish Council a grant of up to £8,000.00! The Parish Council have accepted their grant offer.
The new play equipment area is aimed at pre-school children and toddlers.
All good wishes for their future success to Amanda and her team at the new cafe in Oliver’s Battery. Thrive Cafe and Wellbeing is open 8.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Saturday. The food is delicious and impeccably sourced; The Cafe is already buzzing with customers of all ages. We recommend you to drop in, say hello and sample what’s on offer. We are certain with our new Cafe open, “Thriving” in Oliver’s Battery is going to be a very popular pastime in the future !
Following the end of the two week voting in Tesco stores, the Bags of Help team are currently collecting votes from all stores and finalising results. They will be in touch by the end of November with confirmation of our grant award.
